BRB World Hym - Inferno

From the Seventh Age tapestry of the World Hymn. Could be meant to symbolise the creation of the Inferno.

The Inferno is an uncontrollable vortex of fire and magic [1]. It lies in Augea, between the Sky Mountains, the Sea of Gods, the Wasteland and the Blasted Plain [2].

The Inferno was created by what has been called the eastern dwarves, which earned them their new name. Infernal Dwarves [1]. At the end of the Seventh Age [3], the eastern dwarves were under much pressure from their foes and the Inferno was created in one of their experiments to gain more power. In a way it worked, for it is said to have unleashed a fire that engulfed most of the continent. This caused harm to both the Infernal Dwarves and their foes alike, but it gave the dwarves time to regroup. The Inferno also devastated and forever poisoned the land to the north of it, a land now know as the Wasteland [1] [4]. [5]

The creation of the Inferno can be seen as the transitional point between the Seventh and Eighth Age. [3]

There have been reports of raid on the area surrounding the Inferno encountering followers of Nezibkesh, suggesting these are involved in somehow maintaining this pit of fire. [6]
